CAHIR TIDY TOWNS
Cahir Tidy Town’s committee members have been busy on litter picking and now that the gate is hanging in the Abbey Cemetery they will get around to painting it once a few fine days come. A lot of work has gone into the cemetery and great credit is due to Seamus Shealy and his efforts in cutting grass in the area.
We have been working with the Community Liaison Officer to enhance the Woodview area and should see results in the next couple of weeks. Work on the Parochial Hall will commence shortly and minimum disturbance is expected here. We may need to get involved in a clean up as items tend to blow from these sites when they are work in progress.
The big event for February is the Table Quiz to promote colour in town and Quizmaster, John Costigan will have a round of questions about Cahir (be warned!). The Quiz will take place in the Shamrock Lounge on Friday 24th February, 2012 at 9pm sharp. This is open to all and its €20 per team with a window box or hanging basket on each entry. It’s a win, win situation and we would hope that all businesses will support this. The baskets will be hung up in May so that we have plenty of colour for the summer. A second window box/hanging basket can be ordered on the night for €20 also.
This offer is also open to any residents who would like to avail of it through contact with the Enterprise Centre c/o Tidy Towns Offer.
Please keep up the good work in the off season.

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION
Cllr. Seanie Lonergan is organising a Cahir ‘Operation Transformation’. It will involve long walks in a group and on the first night there will be a weigh in, as well as a Diabetes test, this will only happen if there is a good response and as there will be no charge, what have you got to
lose? Please call Seanie for more information on 086 3913639.

GRAND REOPENING
‘A Touch of Klasse’ in the Square, Cahir has just been totally refurbished and has once again reopened its doors to valued customers. So, why not check out the gorgeous revamped premises and while you are there browse the newly arrived Spring/Summer stock.
The place looks lovely Barry and Trish, well done to you both.

IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS
The amount dog owners in the Cahir area who have no concern for pedestrians has increased over the last few weeks, the amount of dog waste on the footpaths is alarming. Last week I watched a lady trying to cross the bridge with a buggy who could not avoid the excrement there, shame on those people.  I will be writing to the Council to find out if there is a way to implement the € 1500 fine we see advertised on council sign’s around town.
From Kevin Brunnick.

I receive these complaints frequently now and residents are distressed with the state of our streets and the negative way that they portray our town.  It is time for people to take charge of their own footpaths as far as dog fouling is concerned. If you see a dog loose, report it, if you see an owner allowing their dog to foul the path without cleaning up afterward, report it. The County Council Offices have waste bags especially for this purpose available free at Erasmus House, so there is no excuse.
